About Lindsay
Lindsay Aucella's high energy, comedic animation, and wide range of silly voices electrifies young crowds (and mastery of gentle crowd control brings them back!) She believes the visual and interactive nature of puppetry makes storytelling accessible to even the youngest…and can suspend disbelief in grown up kids! She hopes to inspire creative play in children and families and to give people a reason to gather together. Shared, live experiences give folks a sense of belonging, turn neighbors into friends, and make a community feel like a home.
Elementary schools, libraries, and early learning centers make up the majority of Lindsay's clientele, to whom she makes annual visits. Other clients include the Deerfield Fair, The Wenham Museum, the Children’s Museum of NH, Hackmatack Playhouse, The Player’s Ring, First Night Portsmouth, the Mount Washington Hotel, the Special Olympics, and even two NH gubernatorial inaugurations!
But wait... how do you fall into puppetry anyway? While Lindsay, with a background in fine art, was preparing a collection of paintings for a show, she met soon to be mentor- Martha Dana. Martha, a beloved performer of over thirty years, on the verge of retirement, graciously agreed to sit for a portrait... and a few months later selected her new friend to take over her collection of 90 puppets, hand-built over her esteemed career.
Lindsay’s first additions to the puppet family are a groundhog, triceratops, robot, sheep, earthworm, horse, jellyfish, snowman, astronaut dog, slug, sea turtle, hermit crab, and blue whale… She prides herself on using mostly secondhand materials in her constructions and loves the problem solving involved in each new creation.
A favorite for libraries, preschools, K-2 enrichment programs, recreation programs, and festivals!
